this patch is easy to post and terribly hard to review.

If it is supposed to be reviewed by a human reviewer, then please split
it up.

the reason being that a human reviewer gets de-sensitivized to such
changes in a very short time, and then doesn't notice any mistakes.
Therefore, a human needs *frequent* interruption and resumption points,
within a series of changes of this type. Lumping them all together is a
terrible idea. I certainly can't review 62 changes of this type in one go.

according to the diffstat, we have ~10 modules that are affected. That
provides, IMO, a much better resolution for this work; a reviewer can
freely stop mid-series at any point and pick up later.

anyway -- I don't insist for this to be respun, I just can't review it
like this.
